Student work

This is a collection of student projects.  These projects were created through collaboration between the classroom teacher and the media specialist.
Very Hungry Caterpillar
Kindergarten

The students read the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.
The students then used KidPix to feed their hungry caterpillar and write a sentence about it.

Understand and use technology systems

Night and Day
Kindergarten

The students spent several sessions learning how to use Microsoft Word.  They learned how to insert text, change text features and import a picture.
  They then chose an animal and composed a sentence indicating if it was a daytime or nighttime animal.

 

SKE1. Students will describe time patterns (such as day to night and night to day) and objects (such as sun, moon, stars) in the day and night sky.


a. Describe changes that occur in the sky during the day, as day turns into night, during the night, and as night turns into day.

Georiga Regions
Second Grade

The students researched the Georgia Regions.  They were given a map and had to label the Georgia region and include some animals you might find in the region.

 

SS2G1 The student will locate major topographical features of Georgia and will describe how these features define Georgia’s surface.

a. Locate all the geographic regions of Georgia: Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plain, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau.

 

Georiga Habitats
Third Grade

The students researched the Georgia Habitats during their time with the science specialist.  They were then tasked with creating a news broadcast about their habitat.  They learned that news broadcast had to be clear, concise, and correct. 

 

ELACC3W2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

b. Develop the topic with facts, definitions, and details.

 

S3L1. Students will investigate the habitats of different organisms and the dependence of organisms on their habitat.


a. Differentiate between habitats of Georgia (mountains, marsh/swamp, coast, Piedmont, Atlantic Ocean) and the organisms that live there.
b. Identify features of green plants that allow them to live and thrive in different regions of Georgia.
c. Identify features of animals that allow them to live and thrive in different regions of Georgia.

 

 

National Standards (NETS):

            d. contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.

 

World War II
Fifth Grade

The students researched a topic on World War II and created a presentation using PowerPoint, Glogster or Prezi.

 

SS5H6 The student will explain the reasons for America’s involvement in World War II.

 

ELACC5SL4: Report on a topic or text or present an opinion, sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes; speak clearly at an understandable pace.ELACC5SL5: Include multimedia components (e.g., graphics, sound) and visual displays in presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas or themes.
